My mom, Helen Hart loved the sound of lovely accordion music. She told my sister Georgia that she would like to learn how to play the accordion, she loved the music it played so much. I think its influence on her must have come from her Greek background and growing up in Long Island around the time of the depression. My mom was very close to her Grandmother on her Mother's side, the Greek side. She even spoke Greek, the only one of her sisters who spoke it fluently, to her Greek Grandmother, GaGa (Greek short for Grammy).
